What is a Seismic Cable Bracing Kit & How do I Specify a Part Number?

Seismic Cable Sway Bracing kits are a great product that makes it easy for you to complete seismic bracing installations. Kits make installation simple as they provide you the option to have customizable features such as fastener type and brace length. Having this customizability allows you to easily get exactly what you need for your required job specifications. By having the exact amount of cable you need for jobs will also help keep installation costs down. However, Loos Seismic Bracing recommends ordering an extra small 250 ft. spool of cable and a box of sleeves for each size used on the project, just in case you end up requiring additional resources.

Now that you know a bit about bracing kits, here at Loos Seismic Bracing, we want to make it easy for you to get the right Sway Bracing Kit for your application. To make the process simple, we have created a part number guide. Continue reading to learn how to specify a part number with Loos!

To keep things simple, our kits use the same cable as the ones in our bulk spools but they are pre measured to your desired length. One side is attached to a stake eye for connection to a structure, and the other is left as a cut end for connection in the field. To reflect this in our part numbers, we have specific codes for brace type, cable code, fastener code, and length cable. Below, our charts will walk you through each of these codes.

Step 1: Choose your brace type

Step 2: Choose the cable that best fits your load requirement

Step 3: Chose the fastener that best fits your requirements

Step 4: Choose your desired brace length

Now that we have provided you with the necessary steps, lets look at an example to highlight the full code. As a recap, the first number indicates the kit is either a 2-way or 4-way brace. The next alphanumeric section indicates the kit size, in the below example it is gold, which gives it a 600 lb. load rating. The third section highlights the fasteners needed. Our example below shows that the kit will include a ¼” stake eye. The last number indicates the number of feet, which is 10 in the instance below.
